Molten Sensuality: The Crystalline Creations of April Wagner will present the extraordinary and unique sculptures of Michigan glass artist April Wagner. Wagner’s sculptures, which she first created in college and later at her studio in Pontiac, Michigan, consist of soda lime glass. This material inspires the artist by its “seductive allure” and “fluidity and grace.” For Wagner, “the physical act of creating glass, taking raw material and breathing life into it,” defines her place in the universe.
Wagner is intrigued by the process of blowing glass into linear and organic shapes. By turning, twisting, or repeating the shapes she investigates their relationship to floor, wall, or tabletop. Her intention is to create objects that are captivating to look at in their environment. Whether a private, public, or corporate space she chooses the colors, shapes, and scale of the work in direct response to that specific environment and that viewer.
April Wagner’s show opens October 5th 2018 until January 12th 2018.
